November 2024 Astrology Preview

Hi, everybody. Bill Duvendack here with the November 2024 monthly astrological preview. So grab a cup and get cozy because November is shaping up to be an interesting month.

As many of you know, the month begins with a New Moon in Scorpio, coinciding with Halloween. This is a rare occurrence, and I encourage you to take advantage of it. Scorpio season is a time of darkness, rebirth, passion, intensity, ambition, and laser-like focus—qualities often misinterpreted as negative. For November, it all starts not with a whisper but a bang. This New Moon involves more than just the Sun and Moon in Scorpio; we actually have a Scorpio stellium that includes Mercury. For those who work between the planes, practice ceremonial magic, ritual magic, or witchcraft, this is the ideal time to dive deep and indulge. Scorpio is analytical, investigative, and sharp in its critical thinking, much like Virgo. So, it’s a good time to get to the heart of things.

We also have a Grand Water Trine this month, which intensifies emotions and marks a period of spiritual initiation. Right now, as a species, we’re being initiated into a higher level of development, thanks to the collective self-improvement efforts over time. Just like in video games or role-playing games, when you master a level, you’re tested before moving to the next. This Water Grand Trine includes the Sun, Moon, and Mercury, along with Mars in Cancer and Neptune retrograde in Pisces. With Neptune retrograde, it’s an excellent time to break free from addictions, bad habits, and come out cleaner.

Mercury in Scorpio opposes Uranus retrograde in Taurus, so be mindful of your words. If they carry veiled meanings, be prepared for unexpected revelations or Freudian slips that may come up. While it’s great to be focused and detail-oriented, don’t let it make you narrow-minded. Uranus in Taurus encourages us to adopt the Serenity Prayer—focus on what we can control, release what we can’t, and learn to differentiate between the two.

With Mercury in Scorpio sextile to Pluto in Capricorn, it’s an ideal time for profound changes to longstanding institutions and structures. Sometimes, the way to initiate these changes is by being the “poison in the system,” subtly working behind the scenes until the changes are already in place. You don’t need to announce your intentions; work quietly and let your actions speak.

Venus in Sagittarius opposes Jupiter retrograde in Gemini early in the month, urging caution in both spending and romantic pursuits. Stick with what’s working rather than seeking novelty. When any planet in Sagittarius opposes one in Gemini, the message is to maintain a singular focus. Avoid distractions, as Jupiter in Gemini can support prosperity and expanded consciousness through interactions and light-hearted fun.

Venus in Sagittarius is also trining Chiron retrograde in Aries, offering an opportunity for healing internal wounds through focus on Venusian traits like love and creativity. Additionally, Pluto in Capricorn trines Neptune retrograde in Pisces, indicating a spiritual grounding that’s transforming our institutions. For collective growth, it’s essential to embrace change—something Scorpio signifies.

This transit will last throughout the month, highlighting the power of collective influence on change. Furthermore, Pluto in Capricorn opposes Mars in Cancer, which may create tension between home life and work commitments. The message is about choosing what’s most fulfilling and beneficial for society. Often, dualities like these are illusions, but in this case, they are very real.

On Dia de los Muertos, the themes continue, especially with the Moon conjunct Mercury. If you have a short temper, be mindful, as emotions may run high. This day also favors spiritual work, including contacting spirits, ritual magic, or witchcraft. Later, Mercury moves into Sagittarius, a combination traditionally seen as challenging due to Mercury’s desire for diplomacy clashing with Sagittarius’s directness. But I argue that Mercury in Sagittarius can be both honest and diplomatic. Brutal honesty without compassion is unnecessary; instead, aim for compassionate honesty.

The month also brings a “fire” Grand Trine, although most of the planets involved are in water signs. Regardless, it emphasizes proactive action and builds upon the themes introduced at the beginning of the month. Mercury conjunct the Moon in Scorpio, opposing Uranus in Taurus, calls for caution in online conversations, especially with Saturn retrograde in Pisces supporting introspection on our spiritual practices. It’s time to evaluate if our practices align with our beliefs.

On the 10th, with the Moon conjunct Saturn retrograde in Pisces, it may feel as if our spiritual world is breaking apart. This period calls for introspection and inner work. Mars in Leo trines the North Node of the Moon retrograde in Aries until the 22nd, signaling that focusing on personal growth with optimism can lead to profound internal transformation. But avoid falling into narcissism.

Mid-month brings squares and trines involving planets like Mercury, Saturn, Jupiter, and the Moon, pointing to tests of patience, spiritual alignment, and internal fears. There may be days, such as the 11th, where bad habits and addictions surface, offering an opportunity to confront and overcome them. With Venus moving into Capricorn, this is a time for relationships to mature and for us to align with our goals for personal stability and growth.

The Full Moon in Scorpio on the 15th amplifies these transformative energies, providing an opportunity to manifest desired changes or maintain the current path. Later in the month, Pluto’s long-awaited ingress into Aquarius on the 19th begins a 20-year period of profound societal transformation, emphasizing humanitarianism, scientific advancement, and collective unity. The challenge will be balancing individual goals with the collective good.

As the Sun enters Sagittarius on the 21st, a rocky road from the 18th to 22nd reminds us to navigate the balance between self-interest and collective welfare. By the 23rd, we have an Earth Grand Trine perfect for manifesting and completing physical tasks. Mercury stations retrograde on the 24th in Sagittarius, signaling potential communication issues, particularly for mutable signs.

The final week of November continues with multiple T-squares, trines, and oppositions involving Venus, Mercury, Mars, and the Moon. These aspects underscore challenges and opportunities in communication, spirituality, and relationships. By the end of the month, a New Moon in Sagittarius on the 30th with a grand fire trine infuses us with renewed energy, ideal for setting intentions for the future.
